<the Replikants><Joe, Justin, Brandt>

12.13.99 flowers asks: Dear whoever, what the hell guys, i mean it . what the hell were you thinking. i was >>listing to the record and it's like 40 minutes of synth crapola. Im sorry it's kinda cool, in that way Throbbing Gristle's "hamburger lady" is cool for like 1 listen. mice try though.. it's better than my electronic attempts, oh wait I never tried because it's a sucky idea.

Brandt: Flowers- Your response and critique of the Replikants album was very clear and well written. We strive to create music that is suitable to future record critics like yourself. I often wonder what kind of deep inferiority complexes and abundances of time inspire people like yourself to publicly comment on their own likes and dislikes. You are a tool.

Joe: Your so far behind you don't know that synth crapola is whats selling these days. Why don't you go back a pay attenttion to throbbing gristle records you little rascal. I appreciate you expression of opinion, I just think it sucks. You should start a band that sounds like the MC5. bye ,JOe

Justin: First of all, I can listen to Hamburger Lady repeatedly if I'm in the right mood, so that puts us in different boats. Secondly, there's plenty things going on beside the synth crapola you refer to, so what the hell are YOU thinking. And if you really are Ray of Today, its the funniest thing I've heard all day or even this month. Maybe you SHOULD try something electronic.

11.21.99 sven asks: Dear 'kants, i'm contemplating taking the slickaphonics record cover to staples, and having them make a humungous poster out it. who did the art work for the cover? if its already listed on the record insert sheet, please commense on beating me within an inch of my life. thank you.

Justin: Its says artwork by Mr. "I'm from Duluth". That would be Zach, the bass >player from Low, an artist to be reckoned with.

Brandt: Zack from the band Low did the artwork for the Replikants album

11.11.99 Stan asks: Dear Replikants, Do you like any classical other than John Cage?? If so, what??

Brandt: Stan, We Replikants all enjoy classical music. My degree is in classical music studies. Justin likes alot of Eastern European stuff like Ligeti, Pendereski, Lutofslowski, Goereki. Joe is into Bartok (as am I) . Joe also has some classical and ethnomusicological training. I like so much of it that it is hard to list, but I have always really loved Carl Orff and alot of vocal music from the Medievel and Renaissance periods especially Gesualdo and Anonymous vocal music of 13th century Spain. I hope this answers your question. Later days..... Brandt

Justin: My personal favorites are Arvo Part, Penderecki, Stravinski & Bartok. Theres others I cant remember right now, but you probably get the picture.

Joe: Joe likes Reich, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Bartok and a bunch of other dudes (i think they' re all dudes) that I can't remember. Brandt always turns me on to good clasical stuff.

10.20.99 Dave asks: Dear Replikants, Have you ever heard of the movie "Blade Runner" starring Harrison Ford??? There are Replikants in that movie too!!! They're mean.

Justin: Fuck you buddy. I oughtta cancel your subscription, if you know what I mean.

Brandt: Who is Harrison Ford? Was he in Moby Grape? And what's all this about the Glade Bunny? Hugs, Replikants

Joe: Yes, they are mean, but some of them are sensative, if you really pay attention. They are living with a lot of implanted pain.

10.19.99 Cynthia asks: Dear Replikants, if i ever made a movie i would want you guys to be the soundtrack. would you comply to such a request? also, what type of movie do you think would be appropriate for the Replikants music?

Justin: Sure, just send us your resume! We do any kind of movie, be it gothic horror, docu-dramas, Italian horse comedies or a sensual masssage video. We are very open minded.

Brandt: We are always interested in doing soundtracks for movies. The most ideal scenario for a project like this is to collaborate with directors on appropriate music with special attention to what is going on visually. We are fairly versatile and could work with variety of cineamatic genres. Tell us what your basic ideas are for your film, and we can bounce some ideas off each other.

Joe: If you ever make a movie I would be interested in doing the soundtrack. We could probably do soundtracks to a lot of different kinds of movies. We have'nt speacialized yet. Can I see the movie when its done? Action comedy I hope.

10.19.99 Anonymous asks: dear replikants...boxers or briefs

Justin: boxers. Does anyone besides europeans wear briefs? I'm scared of anything referred to as a banana hammock or butt huggers.

Joe: bananahammocksoverboxers

Brandt: Boxers and Boxer-briefs are probably the most comfortable. Where boxers allow for more "freedom" of movement, Boxerbriefs can give you that extra needed "support" with soft comfort of stretchy cotton.

10.12.99 Anonymous asks: how do you feel about being name dropped on the new kick-ass octant CD?

Justin: Wow we must be special!

Brandt: What does it say about Replikants on the Octant CD?

10.11.99 Anonymous says: hmmm.... amazing....
Justin: hmmm. Whats so amazing?
10.9.99 Anonymous asks: Dear replikants, Do you kiss on the first date??

Joe: I don't like kissing.

Justin: No we do much stranger things.

10.9.99 Anonymous asks: dear repli, why not repliHEIDEGGERs? afterall, he's much more contemporary, and he did write "the truth concerning technology".

Joe: no he didn't

Justin: We were thinking maybe repliPLAYDOUGH, since we are getting sued by the other repliCants.

10.9.99 Anonymous asks: Dear repliKANTs, yes, I am also intrigued by your somewhat genuis reference to the late Immanuel Kant. What are some of your opinions on his ideas of Anschauung and space? noumena/ things-in-themselves? It seems to relate somehow... sense perception...
Joe: As I said ealier, that guy was a bit of a snooze. Now, this dialogue can be explained by using a model introduced by Hegel (1770-1831) (whom karl marx was very interested in). The notion that the Replkants are influenced by Kant can be considedred the thesis, The antithesis will be reguarded as the notion that we are not influenced by this Kant but rather grandma clothes, Jazz music and and other independent institutions (beer, shuffleboard). Our antithesis was establised only because we were bombarded you peoples thesis ( the Replikants are influenced by Kant). Now if this dialogue continues, we will eventually reach a synthesis, that will at worst liberate the Replikants, and at best liberate both of us. Joe
10.9.99 Anonymous asks: Dear Reps, i was wondering, have you ever considered changing your name to the "RepliKierkegaards"?
Joe: No, we haven't. We haven't considered changing it to Replisatre, Replidostoevsky, Replinietzsche, Replirilke, Replikakfa, Repliortega, Replijaspers, Replheidegger or Replicamus either. But thats very, very funny stuff.
10.9.99 Anonymous asks: Dear RepliKANTs, i noticed that you cleverly fitted the word "Kant" into the name of your band-- you boys never fail to impress and amaze me with your witty "puns"...could you please elaborate on your apparent love for this 18th century German philosopher? Thanks!
Joe: Personally, I know absolutly nothing about Kant. I wasn't very interested in philosophy when I had the opportunity in grade school.
10.6.99 Sara asks: is it true the Replikants have to change their name to RepliCunts 'cause they're geting sued?
Joe: sounds like one drummer is getting jealous of another drummer, why don't you call me on your new cell phone Ms. Portland.
