| 11.29.05 JB asks: Dear Slim,
Who's scariest? Penicheiro, Swoopes, or Hammond? |
Slim: swoopes, man, i tense up every time she has the ball in her hands. hammond is scary though, in a different way, like wouldn't want to run into her in a dark alley. |
| 11.29.05 the bambino asks: Dear _Slim_____,
Doesn't it just eat you up that Derek Jeter wasn't an all-star this year? |
Slim: yeah, it's stupid. but way stupider is that he got a gold glove. he's terrible defensively. |
| 06.26.05 lord owl hair asks: Dear ____slim__,
lots of kids seem like they are into things and stuff. sometimes i wonder about rock and roll. where is a friendly bird i can have as a pet and wont attack my lobe? i guess that is what i am really asking. and also who would win a fight between the letter 'r' and 'the' jimmy hendrix's shoe? oh yeah and 'sign' our band and get us a sponsorship by that company that makes those really good marshmellow chocolate cookie things. i will wash jackson on a daily basis.....? -lord owl hair |

| 02.21.05 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
The Subpop website says that you were involved with Earth, but the KRS factsheets indicate otherwise. What's the lowdown? What do you think about Sunn O))) and their participation in creating an Earth mythology? Also, what was Nisqually Podunk Nightmare like? Did you make any recordings? |
Slim: I played in Earth for a llittle under a year of rehearsals. I quit after our first show. I don't know anything about Sunno O))). Nisqually Delta Podunk Nightmare was very primitive and goofy. We did release a cassette of a live radio performance, but that's all. Thanks for asking. |

How do you rationalize professional athletes salaries when there are people who are homeless? |
Slim: i don't. |
| 12.28.04 Ruthie asks: Hey Slim,
Mail art is basically making art using the postal system as a medium. I'm not really an artist or anything, I just like making collages and paintings and sending them out on envelopes. It's a way to sort of have a community interact with something I've made, since everyone who handles the envelope/package also gets to see it. I like some of the music/words you've made, so I wanted to share too. It's okay if you don't want to. I just wanted to get an address to send something to you that I could ensure wouldn't die underneath a cabinet in a ghostly mail room. R |
Slim: its the same address that's on all the records and CDs. |
| 12.28.04 matt asks: Dear slim,
I sent in a demo tape on 6/18/04 the day when you changed your policy (I mailed it then went online and saw you changed your policy). Since your policy has changed yet again I was wondering if my tape and others like mine will be first in line to get looked at or are all tapes sent in on that day doomed to slip through the KRS cracks and be lost forever? |
Slim: i probably listened to it, i was pretty careful and listened for a while after just to be sure... |
| 12.28.04 Ruthie asks: Dear ______,
I want to send some mail art to Slim Moon. Is there an address I can send it to that can ensure it will be received by him? R |

| 11.09.04 jake asks: Dear slim, when will you start to look at demo tapes again. i sent one in a while ago and wanted to know.

Slim: 2005 sometime, sorry |
| 11.04.04 matt asks: Dear slim, i was wondering if there is any good low-income housing in Olympia? I'm going to be relocating soon and I just wanted to know.
Slim: its pretty cheap to live here but not as cheap as it used to be |
| 10.29.04 matt asks: Dear slim, why did sleater-kinney sign with sub pop after so many faithful years at KRS? have things gone sour?
Slim: this is a question you would need to ask sleater-kinney. as far as i know, nothing is sour. |
| 10.11.04 Brian Sinclair asks: Dear Slim______,

| 01.25.04 tupac shakur asks: slim- are you in a band? have you played any shows lately? i saw you solo on the 5rc tour. is witchypoo still around? | |
Slim: witchypoo broke up in 2000. i guess technically i currently have two bands, slimmoonSolo and The Punks. but neither plays much because neither gets asked to play very often. |
| 01.17.04 matt asks: Dear Slim,

What is the status of the members of Unwound? Are the members still playing and recording music? Is there a Justin Trosper record in the works? Tell me! the people have to know. |
Slim: right now, so far as i know, they are all between projects? |
| 09.08.03 Derek asks: Dear KRS Staff,
What does the Nervous Cop record sound like? I missed what I think was the one and only show they've ever played (in Sacramento) and am really intrigued by the people involved/instrumentation. |
Slim: it sounds insane |
| 08.14.03 evan asks: Dear Slim Moon,
i am 15 years old, and i play in a band. we are from seattle, and we have played our share of shows around the area. we have gotten an overall positive response from all different people, and all different age groups. we would really like to go on tour, but that is difficult seeing as we're younger then most touring bands. we would really like to get signed to KRS, and we are aware of the demo tape policy/what to include if we send one, but what i'd really like to know is how KRS goes about signing bands when they are younger/aren't able to tour and play shows as much as they would like. thanks for all the great music yr label has provided. |
Slim: we consider anyone, but yes, touring is a thing that is an important consideration. |
| 08.14.03 John asks: Dear Slim, are you a Joy Division fan?

Slim: wow that's a hard question.
| 04.23.03 RepliConan asks: Dear Mr. Moon,
If you had to choose between only watching the entire series of Sid and Marty Kroft's Land of the Lost or only listening to Bob Dylan's entire music catalog which would you choose and why? Remember, you can only choose one! -C. |
Slim: I can't choose land of the lost with the sound off as dylan as the sountrack? |
| 04.17.03 patrick asks: Dear Slim,
Car Wars or Illuminati? Maybe I'll run into you @ Safeco. |
Slim: STEVE JACKSON GAMES. yeah! |
| 04.17.03 mush mouth asks: Dear mr. Slim,
Uhm, if you ever consider putting the 2 video fanzines onto dvd here's the name of a dvd production company: plexifilm.com. They do mastering and just put out Benjamin smoke by jem cohen. |
Slim: oddly enough, we talked with plexifilm for years but they seem to have lost interest in working with us. |
| 04.17.03 textile enthusiast asks: Dear Slim,
Recently I've considered trying hallucinogenic drugs. What is your opinion of them? Would you recommend them as an artistic catalyst? I assume at least some of your work has been influenced by drugs (ahem, "Critterville".) Do you have any strange or interesting drug stories? Thanks in advance, T.E. |
Slim: i don't believe in the concept as drugs as an artistic catalyst. sure there were some artists who took drugs, but that's just cooincidence, i don't believe the drugs make the art. none of my art is drug-influenced. i wrote stories like that long before i took drugs. |
| 04.17.03 robbertt Andrews asks: Dear ______,
I'm 19 now. I know how i feel, i know how people say they feel. is life worse now. is it actually different then the 80s. or just the same once again. It alwasy feels like we have it worse than ever before...it seems now from all the "hype" and "stories" that washington and alot of places in the country had alot of dysfunctinal youth running around and they banded together and blah blah blah grunge etc.. etc... Did it really feel like everythign was going somewhere, or was it no differnet then today, where it just feels like some of us are one in a million, spread out, and nothign is ever happening or that is happens too slowly....i ask you because i look up to you for what you and your collegues have done so i respect all of you greatly. |
Slim: i think its the same. it all sucks and thats why people get together to try to make exciting things happen. |
| 04.17.03 susiedgar asks: Dear Slim,
How did you get the Legion of Doom name? Was it from the Battlestar Gallactica ship that looked like a collander? |
Slim: you don't remember the tv show? |
| 04.17.03 ONE INDIGNANT CUNT asks: dear shitmonger,
why doesn't anybody play in st.louis anymore?are we that lame?have we been deemed unworthly?people are shit everywhere...so if this IS a regional thing...then...FUCK YOU!if not, more like a venue thing, the way out club(exene's haunt during her brief stay here)the rocket bar,the creepy crawl are all experimental-neo-no-wave-whatever-the-fuck-the-pepsi's-are-labelin'-these-days friendly. fuck you and all yr "rock star" friends. |
Slim: um, it says all over the place on our site that we don't book tours for the bands. would you like us to forward this to the booking agents? |
| 04.17.03 Beany asks: Dear Slim,
What is the deal with agents booking krs bands for UK tours. I know you get various 'why aren't bands come here in the mail' but seriously there bands seems there are no bands coming over to Dublin, I know KRS do not book bands, who does? Is it simply a lack of interest in terms of album sales etc? That can be easily fixed, I sent a mail about a year ago and it was apparently put on some site for touring bands, I heard nothing since. I am currently involved with a decent club in Dublin, I can't see why bands do not want to come, you should come visit and then relay how fantastic we are over here, ______, I think one touring band might prick the interests of hundreds, I also work in the media, and know loads of bands who would jump at teh chance of a support slot, So I am probably nagging the wrong person but whoever it is that I should be in contact with let me know, Thanks, Slan, |
Slim: hi Slan
| 04.17.03 Gilmore Tamny asks: Dear Slim,
Is it true you are obsessed with the Gilmore Girls as it said in the last update? For you see, I am too. I have hopes that someday they will give me a walk-on role because, if nothing else, my name is Gilmore. Anyway, because I have a class on Tuesdays I can't watch it this fall, but I read the scripts on gilmore-girls.net, an insanely comprehensive website, which is almost as good. Your thoughts on "Gilmore Girls," I'd be intersted to hear. Sincerely, Gilmore Tamny p.s. please disregard if your views, interests and feeling on the "gilmore girls" have been, however unintentionally, misrepresented in last update |
Slim: hi gilmore
| 04.17.03 pat asks: Dear slim,
did you go to college? if so was it "worth it"? do you think someone could take time off thinking about what they want to study and go back to college or would they never go back? any other general thoughts or advice? thanks, -pat |
Slim: i got kicked out of college pretty fast. it worked out ok for me. |
| 04.17.03 anonymous asks: slim,
i sent this to bangs 1st by mistake. i think it would be great if sam coomes & s-k joined forces for an ep or something. 764-hero and modest mouse did that. and b2s w/caustic resin. and it turned out cool. imagine the roxichord blending with 2 guitars and drums. and him singing, with s-k singing. do you think it's a good idea? oh and to make it more interesting they could put drums on 1 record, all vocals on another lp, and guitars on a third album. what 2 bands would you like to see collaberate? also would you ever consider releasing a compilation cd of just these kicking giant cassettes. "boyfriend girlfriend" "secret teenage summer" & "present" i asked calvin at a show, so i thought i asked you |
Slim: seems like a fine idea. |
| 04.17.03 BrSundae asks: Dear Slim,
Are you currently working on anything now? I'm sorry, i just had to change the subject off of sports... We should collaborate.. Spoken word/radio noise.. it would be beautiful! |
Slim: i am semi-retired now. |
| 04.17.03 crab apple asks: Dear Slim, howdy! i am just wonderin bout something. I heard that Ronnie Specter's new album was being produced by Joey Ramone, and he finished half of it before he passed away. Then i heard that Keith Richards was finishing up producing the rest of it, and there was a good chance it would be releaesed by KRS. can you let me know anything about this? thanks!
Slim: I have no idea, I doubt we are putting it out. |
| 08.01.02 Mike asks: Dear Slim,
last baseball question forever...I heard a wild rumor that the M's were thinking about changing their putrid logo and team colors. Mgmt was thinking about a return to the "old-school" design of the Langston/Davis/Bradley days. Have you heard anything about this??? If so, please confirm or deny. Remember when the M's actually had cool uniforms???? |
Slim: i'd like it if they did that |
| 07.31.02 Nate asks: Dear Slim,
Are the Mariners just playin' around with the Angels to make the AL race appear more exciting? Or are they trying to lull them into a false sense of hope, so that when they finally pull away, it will be more emotionally devastating to their entire team? I can't quite figure it out? What are your thoughts? |
Slim: out of the three teams vying for the american league west, which ones are already playing at the very tippy-top of their ability? which one is bound to improve? who do you think will win the pennant, the ones playing beyond themselves, or the one sure to get better? |
| 07.31.02 art_verdijr asks: Dear _slim_____,
what do you think of a three piece band with a Nirvana meets Jimi Hendrix sound?? im currently working on it now!! Does it sound like it could work to you? Those are my two biggest influences. And the sounds are similiar just decades apart. I always thought hendrix would be a perfect lead guitar player for Nirvana!! |
Slim: is this really a question? |
| 07.18.02 evonne francine asks: Dear slim,
has anybody at your label listened to my cd? i sent to you guys a few months ago.if so what did they think? |
Slim: we listen to all the CDs we recieve |
| 07.15.02 secret car bomb asks: Dear Slim,
are you going to see Lord of the Rings when it plays at the Capitol Theatre next week? More than once? |
Slim: um, i already saw it more than once |
| 07.10.02 textile enthusiast asks: Dear Slim,
When did people start calling you Slim? |
Slim: 1984 |
| 06.21.02 RepliConan asks: Dear Slimmy,
What are your top 5 favorite Melvins releases I think mine would be: Bullhead Lysol the Bootlicker Stoner Witch and maaaaaybe the new one actually, hostile ambient takeover but the buzzo ep and 'with yo' heart not your hand' are runners ups |
Slim: i agree with your top four, but Ozma would be my top one above all of those. |
| 06.21.02 nelson asks: Dear SLIM, What Is Freedom?
Slim: truth |
| 06.19.02 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
Not so much a question, but on the Comedy Central game show Beat The Geeks there is a round in which the contestants are asked if various words are related to movies, music, or TV. One of the words was "Witchy Poo" and the girl said "Music." Just thought you liked to know that your band comes before H.R. Pufnstuf in the minds of some. |
Slim: wow, that's rad |
| 06.17.02 burt reynolds toupee asks: Dear Slim, God forbid this should ever happen, but if you're record/music collection was in a fire and you could only rescue a couple things, what would you save?
Slim: the no new york compilation, and the yes LA complilation, and the What Is It compilation |
| 06.07.02 pat asks: Dear slim,

Slim: i wish |
| 06.06.02 jack Bauer asks: Hey Slim!!
who do you think is the better guitarist?? Mike Mcready or jerry Cantrell |
Slim: Kim Thayil |
| 05.31.02 ... asks: Dear slim,
bet you didn't know the chromatics had been keeping their awesome new web page a secret from everyone http://www.thechromatics.com/personnel.shtml |
Slim: yr true i dint no |
| 05.23.02 wayne asks: Dear slim, I just wanted your feelings on the whole nirvana thing. Are you a fan of the music? Do you feel that they sold out? Do you believe courtney played a part in kurts death?etc. thanks.______,
Slim: i love nirvana, especially in utero. the issue of "selling out" is a complicated one, i respect their decisions they made for themselves and for their families but i would not have personally signed to a major label if i had been in their shoes. i think kurt killed himself plain and simple, i don't believe in any of the conspiracy theories. |
| 05.08.02 Soccer Star asks: Dear Slim,
What are your top five favorite sports? |
Slim: dear soccer star
| 05.06.02 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
If a terminally ill individual asked your band to perform as the person's last wish, would you do it? |
Slim: Unfortunately I do not currently have a band. |
| 05.01.02 Will asks: Dear Slim______,
I am listening to "Broken E Strings" and mourning the end of a band that completely changed me as a person. I want to commend your record label for giving me and many others the oppurtunity to bask in the manic beauty of Unwound for the better part of ten years. P.S. Cirillo or Bell at third please justify you answer |
Slim: having been to games at safeco field several times for each of the last three seasons, all you have to do is watch the effortless way Cirillo fields the ball. i am convinced he's one of the best fielding infielders i've ever watched. and he's a llifetime .300 hitter. david bell will hit more home runs and perhaps more doubles, but safeco field is not a home run hitters park. by concentrating on good-fielding contact hitters with speed, the mariners have become the fantastic team that they are, especially at safeco. |
| 04.21.02 T Jeffro Smith asks: Dear Slim,
you covered a song with Witchy Poo by Disco Rick and the Dogs called "Fuck the President". i want to credit that song properly on a phony home recording ive done. ive searched the web endlessly and can find nothing about this song and very little about disco rick. your album "Public Works" offers very little info on this tune. is this a fake name for somebody? did you guys really write this song? could you please tell me 1) who wrote the song and B) when it was published and iii) who the publishing company is? it would make my liner notes look far more professional, and it's only fair. thanks a sooper ton, cuz it's real important to me. tj ps dont worry, im not making money off of this. pps come back to seattle to perform soon! i havent seen you since the exene/lydia lunch show at the weathered wall 7 years ago. |
Slim: i don't know what a "phony home recording" is. please explain. |
| 04.21.02 mungo asks: Dear Slim, who are your favorite blues musicians of all time? Also, will the new Ronnie Spector album be released by KRS?
Slim: off the top of my head i'd say some of my favorite blues musicians have first or last names that start with J: robert johnson, skip james, john lee hooker, blind lemon jefferson, john hurt, jimi hendriz, jimmy page, jack white. but leadbelly is my all time favorite for sure.
| 04.09.02 klang asks: Dear Slim,
Actually, I wasn't kidding :( Do you know anyone who would be interested in partaking in said exercise? Would you be interested in reading such a fanzine, or is that a really bad idea? |
Slim: i really dunno |
| 04.08.02 klang asks: Dear Slim,
I have an idea for a fanzine, but only you can allow me to achieve my dream. The fanzine will be a transcription of a conversation between you and me in which we get really drunk or stoned or both. Help me fulfill my artistic vision, Slim. Please tell me what you think of this idea. |
Slim: you have got to be kidding. i have been clean and sober for nearly 4 years. |
| 03.19.02 hank asks: Dear Slim, what are your predictions for the Mariners this season? also, what is your favorite Stones album and why?
Slim: 99 wins. high tide and green grass. goat's head soup, cuz the title is nice |
| 03.18.02 bruce lie asks: Dear Slim,
are you gonna put the wordcore box set out on CD? have you ever heard amiri baraka (leroi jones)& could you try and put out a record by him? are pitchers just that fragile or do coaches just try to bring them back from injury too quickly?(re: little unit, kerry woods, etc.) |
Slim: we have no plans to put the box set on CD, it would take two or three CDs to get all ten 7"s on there. i have in fact heard amiri baraka. pitching is an unnatural thing to do to a young tender body |
| 03.12.02 Anal Stan asks: Dear Slim Moon,
You missed a verse in that Melvins cover at Bottom of the Hill this week. But what I really wanted to know is, what's the most violent reaction you've had to shouting the phrase "fuck the motherfuckin' President" in these hysterical times? |
Slim: you know bruce, you're really being such a prick prick prick |
| 03.06.02 bananarama asks: Dear slim, SlimmoonSolo would be great.. Port Angeles would be cooler (that's where i'm from) but i wouldn't want to subject you to visiting this place- I would travel to Seattle to see you- if you go... hopefully- thanks!!
Slim: rad thanks |
| 03.04.02 Bananarama Sundae asks: Dear Slim, You should go to Seattle on your tour!! People in the northwest want to hear you too!!
Slim: hello bananarama sundae
| 02.13.02 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
Is slimmoonSolo primarily singing or spoken word? Who are some current spoken word artists you admire? |

Slim: Slim Moon is the name i use for my spoken word, i don't need to change it to any other name, that'd just be confusing. slimmoonSolo is my current between-projects project, if that makes sense, but after I release my next solo album I'll start using some other name or identifier. not sure yet what that will be. other than edwin torres, i can't think of any spoken word artists right now that I'm all that enthusiastic about. i'm sure there are some good ones out there, but i haven't found them yet. |

| 02.08.02 mortimer asks: Dear slim,______, back in 1990 or 91 i was at a witchy poo show at the north shore surf club and if my memory is correct, your sister sang a campfire song about "pillaged our village" or something, then you invited people out of the audience to come onstage and play instruments. you motioned for me to come up and play guitar but i chickened out( i was very young). my question is, do you still invite random people out of the crowd to partake in playing music?
Slim: i'm in love i'm in love with attila the hun, attila the hun, attila the hun, he did pillage a village and killed everyone, that's why i'm in love with attila the hun.

| 02.07.02 FrankCastle asks: Dear Slim______,
Did you know they talk about you in the new Kurt Cobain book Heavier than heaven?? |
Slim: I did not know that. |
| 02.06.02 bench warmer asks: Dear Slim, I guess my idea of a good super bowl halftime show would be, since the last one was in new orleans, mr. quintron, miss pussycat (with her puppets), several drum buddies rigged with pyrotechnics, and XBXRX if they weren't out of the country. Do you think its cool that a team with a bunch of thousandth round draft picks, a non-egotistical philosophy, and a fourth string, skinny weakling (according to the draft report) quarterback won the Super Bowl? I'll admit that I think its pretty cool.
Slim: it was a fun superbowl |
| 01.23.02 bench warmer asks: Dear Slim, Are you into any other sports besides baseball? I have recently realized that I actually like sports, I have even caught myself watching football games with interest, and it makes me feel, I guess, kind of weird. It seems that a lot of geeks/punks/social losers/wallflowers etc. develop an aversion to sports, that years of being picked last for teams, degraded by asshole PE teachers and picked on by bullies who just happen to play varsity sports makes us not want to have anything to do with anything sporty if we can help it. What do you think of all this? And do you think a cool band could ever play the Super Bowl Halftime Show or sing the national athem at a World Series game?
Slim: I totally agree, I never liked sports because of the guys who did sports when i was young. But now i feel like I can separate the two - there are many bands i like even though i would never want to hang out with them, the same can be said of many athletes. it depends on what your definiton of a cool band is. |
| 01.13.02 different kind of noise asks: Dear Slim, Would you like to see more girl bands/girls in bands on 5RC or more girl bands/girls in bands in noise-ish music as a whole? I know there's deerhoof and semiautomatic etc. but I find that noise music (whatever you want to call it, I can't describe it, which is maybe a good thing) coming out of where I am (new england) is all done by boys and I'm wondering if this is a widespread thing. If it is, I'll be more than happy to do something about it. Thanks.
Slim: for the record, the following bands on 5RC have female involvement: Schema, The Get Hustle, The Seconds, Xiu Xiu, Deerhoof, Outhud, Witchypoo, Xbxrx and Semiautomatic. These bands do not: Replikants, Godzik Pink, Hella. I personally am very eager to hear more "noise" and experimental music from women. I am especially a big fan of Erase Errata, Sharon Cheslow, and also anything that Rachel Kozak (http://www.zhark.org/rach.html) is involved in. |
| 01.04.02 candice kim asks: Dear Mr. Moon,
What would you like the end result of your work to be? Do you feel close? Are the kids alright? |
Slim: dear candice

| 10.25.01 billy riley asks: Dear Slim,
sorry about the Ms. 'Wait till next year'. ques: Who's going to win the series? |
Slim: the yankees are just like the bullies who made my life miserable throughout my school days. anybody who roots for them must either be a bully or have the stockholm syndrome |
| 10.13.01 Seymour Stein asks: Dear Mr. Moon,I was watching the "Shield Around The K" video recently and I noticed that you kept scratching your head when you were being interviewed. Was this because you were nervous in front of a camera, your head itched, or do you just like smelling your deodorized (or not)armpits?
Slim: that was too long ago, i can't remember. i've never seen that video |
| 10.06.01 lexy asks: Dear Slim,
How old are you? When is your record coming out? Do you have any pets? |
Slim: I will be turning 34 on October 15th, hooray. I need to buy some kind of digital recording system to make my new album at home, not sure when I'll have the money. Soon I hope. I have a brand new dog named Molly. She is really great. Thanks for asking the friendly questions. |
| 10.01.01 billy riley asks: Dear Slim,
Will there be any more spoken word releases? Also, have you ever seen a disc by Matt Cook or the Cook boys anywhere? He did a piece on U.S. of poetry that was funny, and i'm looking to hear more... |
Slim: i haven't heard of matt cook, should i check it out? we will probaly have some more spoken word soon - the next one will probably be by danielle howle |
| 09.29.01 buttmuk asks: Dear slim moon______,
considering that you're involved with an independant punk label, what is the primary focus on a new band when you're considering signing them and do you know what buttmuk is? take it easy bro |
Slim: we like great bands that are serious about what they do and work hard |
| 09.28.01 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
I understand your agitation regarding the derogatory use of the term “white trash.” This has caused me to think about class prejudice. It's obvious to me that discrimination against the poor and working class is unjust. However, can the same be said for intolerance of the wealthy? Is it all right to assume an individual is devious or corrupt if they obtain exorbitant wealth? A justification I can see for this is that in order gain said wealth, one must usually hurt another, financially or otherwise. Or, it may be that no one person actually needs more than a certain amount of money, and by not using it to help others, they are fundamentally unscrupulous. What do you think, regarding these matters? |
Slim: wow, that's some heavy stuff. i think that making broad derogatory statements against idividuals who are wealthy would be a mistake, but i do think that wealth and the wealthy are to be treated with a healthy degree of wariness, cuz it's been my experience that they can be very dangerous. maybe the deal is that all humans are dangerous, but those with power and privilege are way more dangerous, because they have greater means to harm others. |
| 06.28.01 kit kat asks: Dear slim,
i think yr really dreamy. do you want to go out with me? check yes or no |
Slim: i have a date, she'd be mad |
| 06.22.01 lindsay asks: Dearest Slim,
i had no idea you were a tolkien fan! i dont know who i would pick to be gandalf and saruman, but i do think i would have made a much better arwen than liv tyler. i so have the whole elven princess thing down. the movie comes out dec. 19! woohoo! thanks for putting a smile on my face. xoxoxox lindsay |
Slim: yr welcome |
| 06.12.01 Emily asks: Dear Slim, Hi, I have been reading all the questions lately and have noticed that you tell people to become promoters...well, how does one go about doing that? I am interested and want to start...thanks for your time!
Slim: wow, this is a tough one. I've only put on a few shows myself over the years, and I never felt that I was very good at it, so I'm not really an expert. But the first show I ever put on (in 1996) I got the advice from Lois "just do it". So I found a venue that I could rent, found some performers, borrowed a PA, put up flyers around town, and the rest is history. |
| 06.12.01 anonymous asks: Have you seen the "lady marmelade" video? Who is the sexiest? i think lil kim is pretty hot, but i'd rather have Pink. | |
Slim: i gotta say that video turns my stomache, and I never liked that song. if you make me choose, I say Missy Elliott is the sexiest |
| 06.04.01 anonymous asks: When is the next solo album? the last one ruled, i want some more! | |
Slim: look out, it might be more musical than spoken-wordy. like witchypoo crossed with Slim Moon. It will be called slimmoonSolo, all by himself. I don't know when its gonna come out though. i need collaborators |
| 05.19.01 ice cube asks: I got your back slim, smoking chickens is a dumb name.
but i was wondering if you are bothered by the way the game has changed in the past 50 years, originally it was done for the fun of it but nowadays it is all about the benjamins. whats up with that? |
Slim: i think some have done it for fun, some have done it for the green, and some have done it for both, since the dawn of electrified music. |
| 05.19.01 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
You encounter a 4d10+36 (58 hp) Gelatinous Cube in a dank dungeon corridor. Which potion or weapon would you use? You must remember that said cube attacks by slamming its body onto its prey or lashing ouit with a pseudopod... |
Slim: I only played games invented by Steve Jackson and I'm kind of a snob about it. |
| 05.17.01 dannee asks: Dear slim,

Slim: . |
| 05.17.01 dannee asks: Dear slim,
i did nt meen to seem in sen sitive but the name doesn't make the band. if it did we'd be called "rock n roll's last great hope" Matrix. Chehalis. May 25. |

| 05.15.01 Taco asks: Dear _Slime_____,
Why do you not eat me? So tender, so juicey. I am packed with lettuce, tomato, Ground Soy, i mean beef. Oh come on slim! Answer ME! |
Slim: what |
| 05.15.01 uh! asks: Dear slim,

Slim: the compilations are compiled by our invisible friend harvey |
| 05.15.01 the ghost of buddy rich asks: slim,
who is more insane bill buckner or bush jr our prez? |
Slim: I am not a fan of George Bush |
| 05.15.01 Omni Reader asks: Dear Slim, have you ever considered the idea of doing a Weird AL/Michael Jackson thing and covering one of your own songs in a "fat" costume? Call it Full Moon or something? | |
Slim: I think I already did this. |
| 05.15.01 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
What magazines or periodicals do you read? |
Slim: um, I used to religiously read The New Yorker, Brill's Content, Vanity Fair and the New York Times front page, world, and business sections, but I have abandoned that and now for the time being I read Baseball Weekly, ESPN The Magazine, and the New York Times sports section. I glance thru music magazines but don't really "read" them. |
| 05.09.01 the ghost of howard cosell asks: Dear ____Slim__,
What do you think about ESPN classic? I talked to a guy once who was furious that they showed game six of the 1986 world series (the infamous mets vs. red sox bill buckner game). Personally, I'm wondering why it took them so long to show the Giants vs. A's game that was interrupted by the earthquake. How much more classic can you get? |
Slim: yeah, the selections are weird, but that guy is silly to be mad that they showed that game. what should they do, pretend it never happened? |
| 05.08.01 Tyler asks: Dear Slim,
What is your favorite Bob Dylan song? I vote for "Lay Down Your Weary Tune" from the Biograph box set. Do you listen to much folk music? If so, can you recommend some? I'm only familiar with Woodie Guthrie, and early Dylan (basically emulating Guthrie,no?) Have you heard any recordings of Simon & Garfunkel when they went by Tom & Jerry (as I understand it, their real names sounded "too Jewish")? |
Slim: oh wow, what a question. "I'm not there, I'm Gone" is a big favorite of mine. but there are so many great ones. i don't listen to much folk music |
| 05.08.01 Ed asks: Dear Slim,
I just read you say Metallica should have quit while they were ahead. I couldn't agree more! What happened to the anger? ala "Harvester of Sorrow" Could it be the $$$? Anyway, my question is one you probably get way too much. I have moved to Portland about 8 months ago to be in the great NW, most notably to be where most of my favorite artists are, (mostly on KRS) and to hopefully get back in touch with my true passion, music. Maybe not so much in performing, but in just being involved. My question is, how do I get more involved? Is there anything I could do for KRS here in Portland? I would gladly donate any & all of my free time to this, as I need to feel like I am making a contribution, and if anything, for my soul. Please help! Thanks! |
Slim: oh geez, tough question. the best thing to do is just get involved in the scene, start a band, put on shows, make a fanzine, learn to mix live sound, volunteer to work the door at your favorite all-ages venue, etc. also, tell record stores to stock cool records. |
